Real Political Power
85 House seats, 2 Senators, and genuine influence in the world's most powerful democracy.
Britain's "special relationship" with America has always been one-sided. We follow, they lead. We request, they decide. As a state, Britain would have real power in American democracy-more than any other state in the union.
The Numbers
With 67 million people, Britain would become the largest US state by population-bigger than California (39M), Texas (30M), or Florida (22M). This translates to roughly 85 seats in the House of Representatives, plus 2 Senators. That's more congressional representation than any existing state.
The Current Reality
Today, Britain has zero votes in Congress. Zero electoral college votes. Zero say in American policy that affects us directly. We are bound by American decisions on trade, defence, and foreign policy without any representation. We fought a revolution over less.
"Britain would go from America's junior partner to its most powerful state overnight."
What Statehood Means
As the 51st state, Britain would have decisive influence in American politics. Our representatives would chair committees, shape legislation, and vote on every issue that matters. No more begging for trade deals-we'd be at the table.
The "special relationship" would become an equal partnership. Britain would have more power in Washington than it has ever had in Brussels, the UN, or any international body.
