The Goal

From movement to mandate.

51STATE is building toward political representation. When the movement reaches sufficient scale, we will field candidates across the country with one objective: to secure Britain's future as the 51st state of the United States.

The Strategy

Ideas without power change nothing. The Brexit referendum showed that even a clear democratic mandate can be frustrated, delayed, and undermined by a political class hostile to the result. We will not repeat that mistake.

Our goal is to build a movement large enough to contest elections nationwide. When we reach that threshold, we will stand candidates in every constituency - a single-issue party with a single objective.

Candidates with Purpose

Our candidates will stand on one platform: pursuing a negotiated settlement for Britain to join the United States as the 51st state. A vote for 51STATE is a vote for that outcome. No ambiguity. No interpretation required.

In the event MPs are elected to Parliament, they will use their position to advance this cause - forcing debates, tabling motions, building cross-party support, and leveraging any balance-of-power position to make the question unavoidable.

Seats in Parliament mean power. Power means the ability to act, not just the hope that others will honour their promises.

Why This Works

UKIP never formed a government, yet they changed the course of British history. By building electoral pressure, they forced the Conservative Party to offer a referendum it never wanted to give. The threat of lost seats concentrated minds.

The same dynamic applies here. A party polling strongly on this issue forces every other party to respond. Candidates in every seat means the question cannot be ignored. Electoral pressure creates political reality.

And if we win seats outright, we have something better than promises: we have votes in Parliament.

The Path Forward

Before we can contest elections, we need to build. That means:

  • Growing our supporter base across the country
  • Developing local networks and organisational capacity
  • Making the case publicly through research, media, and debate
  • Demonstrating that real demand exists for this choice
  • Building the financial resources to run a national campaign

We will not stand for election until polling suggests we have a genuine opportunity to win a substantial number of seats - enough to enact real political change. This is not a vanity project or a protest vote. We contest elections to win them.

When the movement is ready - when the numbers show real support - we move from advocacy to action. That transition happens when you, and enough others like you, make it possible.
